I keep hoping and waiting for this world to end
I keep wishing and wanting my life to begin.
The darkness surrounds me, as well as the light.
So I can come across to people as being cheery and bright.
But the light that they see and the things they believe
are nothing compared to what the heart feels inside of me.

They walk by me unknowning the darkness that I like
They would run in fear of the blackness that's inside.
The darkness that shows in the little things I do
is nothing compared to the light that shines through.
But the light, no matter how bright, cannot erase
the blackness from all the heartache and sorrow I face.

It seems, no matter how small the pain,
the light shines right on through the rain.
With a promise of hope, it never hides.
For forever inside me it is due to shine.
But the black creeps on up and over the mountian,
down through the valley and under the sea
to help me shine the light on of the sun onto me.

And in the dark I see clearly all I must hide
from the sight of the world I must keep it inside.
All the pain and the sorrow and the fear
for in my worlds, light doesn't shine here.
